Can you repair the web adaptor for server after upgrade?

When I was upgrading ArcGIS Enterprise from 11.3 to 11.5 today, when I was installing the new web adaptor for Server, a message appeared stating that “there is already a file with the same name in the destination folder.” I hit "overwrite all," but then got a message saying a file couldn't be accessed. I accidentally hit Continue, and the installation completed. All the usual Enterprise validations steps seem successful. Nothing seems wrong, but I'm worried something's messed up and I just haven't seen it yet. Is there a way to repair after finishing the installation?

Hey @AliciaMcMurchie1, You're right to be cautious , even if things seem to work fine after the upgrade, it's smart to check if any files were partially overwritten or skipped, especially with something as critical as ArcGIS Enterprise. I would validate the federation and datastore to ensure everything is working correctly and check the ArcGIS Server logs for any odd entries. You can also rerun the ArcGIS web adapter installer, but hit repair instead of install this time. This will replace and recheck any missing or corrupted files without uninstalling anything.

Don't worry if anything is wrong. The WebAdaptor is the easiest product to fix.

Thank you! To be safe, I made a tech support case with Esri. The only error I found in Server Manager and Admin logs was a Server Manager Severe error on a single feature service, "CDWFeatureLayers/ROUTE_VARIANTS/FeatureServer: Could not log usage statistics. Unsupported operation type: GET_ESTIMATES". Since it was only on a single feature service, it seems probably unrelated.

No absolutely! Better be safe than sorry, I hope I helped though. All the best @AliciaMcMurchie1!🤩

Hey @AliciaMcMurchie1

I agree with Leena, you're absolutely right being cautious with all the moving parts, but I'm pretty sure I know exactly what you're talking about.

When you install a new web adaptor, typically the message asking to overwrite doesn't appear, but if you were to install it twice as if there was an initial failure or similar, then it will ask to overwrite, which is fine, all that is saying is that in your installation directory, typically documents, it's overwriting the setup folder and information inside, this is just the Setup file and the executable, so no major files. To me, nothing's messed up, I would check your control panel and verify that your web adaptor says 11.5 and if everything working and there's no log messages, I'd believe you're golden!

Thank you, @CodyPatterson . The control panel says 11.5 and most everything seems to be working. I found one concerning Severe message in Server Manager "CDWFeatureLayers/ROUTE_VARIANTS/FeatureServer: Could not log usage statistics. Unsupported operation type: GET_ESTIMATES," but it's just for a single Cloud data warehouse feature service. There was nothing concerning the Admin logs.

Hey @AliciaMcMurchie1

I've seen similar errors before as well, that shouldn't end up affecting anything major, but I saw in your other reply you opened an ESRI case, always good to do so if you're concerned! Hopefully they get it all checked out and everything is good!
