I am trying to create a connection to an ArcGIS Server within ArcMap but it will not work. I keep receiving various error messages: or
I know the server and services are running because I can access them through the rest endpoints and via the ArcGIS Online Map. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Nathan,
What type of connection are you trying to create (User, Publisher, Admin)? What version of Desktop are you using to make the connection?
Jake,
I am trying to create a user connection within ArcMap 10.2.0.3348.
This should work in 10.2. I was able to successfully connect using 10.3, but unfortunately I do not have a 10.2 instance to test with.
Hi Nathan,
Remove "/services" from the connection string and try again. I hope you are using valid credentials for making the connection.
I'll assume you know your proxy is set up correctly?
Are you using a web adapter, and it is the default "arcgis" or another name. I get the error is I use arcgis (we have two web adapters, neither is arcgis). I agree with Jaynata that the word "services" could be left off, but it will add it on after.
try https://<your url>/<webadaptrer>/rest/services
You can also connect directly to the server machine (assuming you are within you firewall)
If, like us, you have to change your password every 60 days or so, I highly recommend you do NOT "save username/password". If you don't remember to change the password in the connections each time you password changes, it can do nasty things like lock you out (and it's not always easy to track this issue down, if you have a lot of connections.....take it from experience...ugh).
Just some of my suggestions.
