Hi

I am trying to evaluate a disaster recovery setup (DR).

Is there a way that this scenario can work?
--Install the ArcGIS server 10.1 on machine A1.
--Install the ArcGIS server 10.1 on machine B1.
--License is one so, first machine A1 will be authorized and people will use the ArcGIS server 10.1 on A1.
--If something bad happens and A1 goes down and I want to start the new machine as serving machine. Authorize (somehow, this i want to understand??) the B1.
--People will use the B1 now as A1 is down.
--Do we have concurrent licensing scheme for ArcGIS server 10.1?
--Is this scenario going to work with ONE license?
--i believe the de-authorize is also there for ArcGIS server? if so how much turn around time is for de-authorization and 2nd machine starts working?
--Any other idea?

Any insight, help is very much appreciated.

regards
agha

ArcGIS Server is not concurrent licensing.  It is per machine.  Unlike Desktop, no license server is used.

If B1 is literally a clone (I am thinking virtual machinse here) of A1 and only runs when A1 is down then it would work but you would need to make sure that doing so complies with ESRI licensing terms and conditions.

Richard is correct. Also, unlike Desktop, Server can not be deauthorized. The license can expire, however.
