Sorry Jamal.  I was thinking that perhaps the discussion on permissions might be relevant.

After sending the initial reply, I realized that you had probably seen this discussion anyway:(

Jamal,

Is your 😧 Drive accessible by your server? When I add data into an mxd I always add in through a UNC path, I.e. //servername/data/.... This ensures that the server can access the data, have a look at this page:

Thank you Anthony for the answer.

Sounds that the ArcGIS server is full of issues! Problems that never end

??Is your 😧 Drive accessible by your server?? How could I check that my D drive is accessible to my Server?

What it is weird that I could publish my mxd with same conditions and enviroment! What is wrong with it now?

Jamal,

What I mean is can your server see the 😧 of the machine your data is on. If you have the server on the same machine as your arcgis desktop this should not be a problem.

If the data is on another machine to your server then use a UNC path

Thank you for the prompt answer Anthony.

At the moment, the ArcGIS desktop and the ArcGIS Server are installed in the same machine (p1). Nevertheless, I got that message message.

I am facing the same issue. While publishing the map service in arcgis server 10.1 with a SDE layer, getting the error like base string invalid. Any clues to solve it.

Alagappen,

Does your arcgis server account have read access on your database?
