You can try the Points to line GP tool which is available in ArcGIS 10: http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#//00170000003s000000.htm. It is available in all licenses.

First, add your XY coordinates as a point feature layer and add a sort field (optionally) which will be used for sorting.

Otherwise, there is a script which can be used (have not tested it with ArcGIS 10 though): http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=12702

But the tool should do the work and you will be cool.

There are lots of scripts available for ArcGIS 9.3 which could do that.

Start with: http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=15945

More scripts to check:

http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=15828 (this one seems to get many positive feedbacks, check it second)
http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=12702
http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=12703

Hawth's tools could help you with converting the points to line:

Thank you very much the effort you have taken. But  now I realized that due to shallow knowledge  on ArcGIS  I don??t have any ideas how to use script and what is script . I would be grateful to you guide me step by step  how to join  point feature  to make line feature.
