Help wanted in creating an elevation profile

Hallo

I have an ArcMap 10, project with 5m DEM elevation data loaded into the project.
I want to generate some cross sections showing the 2D profile of these contours, but have no clue as to how.
Can any one offer me step by step guidelines on how to do this please.

Do you have access to 3D analyst, or spatial analyst?
3D analyst: "Interpolate line" and then "Profile Graph"
Spatial analyst: Create a line, then use the Densify tool in the editing toolbox to create vertices along the length. Convert the line to points. Use Spatial Analyst >> Extraction >> Extract values to points. Graph the point xyz.
