Can anyone tell me the ramifications of not shutting down the windows services for ArcGIS Portal / Datastore if the server is shut down, either accidentally or through a scheduled task?

Also, will the services automatically restart when the server is rebooted or is this something that needs to be triggered through a start-up script or scheduled task?

Hello,

ArcGIS Enterprise is generally pretty resilient and copes with the underlying machine being shut down unexpectedly.

You should set each ArcGIS Enterprise component Windows service to start with Automatic - Delayed to give it the best chance of success when reboots occur.

In addition ensure that you take regular machine snapshots as a disaster recovery option.

Mark
