We are looking to leverage ArcGIS Enterprise sites to facilitate data delivery (downloads) to our clients. We are keenly interested in leveraging ArcGIS Enterprise as a fulsome solution for this as clients will be authenticating using a named user. This solution will be used by 100+ clients to download data from our ArcGIS Enterprise.

Our clients receive data in various formats (all packaged in ZIP archive files):

  1. Esri Shapefile & File Geodatabase
  2. CAD – AutoCAD
  3. DXF v12, DXF v14 or DXF v2000
  4. DWG v12, DWG v14 or DWG v2000
  5. Microstation DGN v95
  6. Character Delimited Text File
  7. Access 2000 – Access 2013

Since Esri does not technically support the file types noted in bold above, this would not allow for an elegant solution for us and would require more complexity to integrate a third-party vendor or a custom solution to host the files. It should be noted that although these file types are not technically supported, they can be compressed into a ZIP file and uploaded to Portal as a CAD Drawing or Desktop Application Template for example, but obviously this would be misleading to our clients.

We would like to see the functionality to upload a ZIP file and set the contents to Archive file.

This dataset should be able to be downloaded by a user from the content gallery. This would allow us to host a ZIP file with any content type. Again, this can already be achieved by setting the content type to CAD Drawing or Desktop Application Template but this solution has downstream implications in that it would display as such in the content gallery. Allowing an Archive file to be specified as the content type would be a more elegant solution.
