Recycle bin for Enterprise Portal

ESRI should develop recycle bin functionality for Portal.

ArcGIS Online is getting one..

There is no news about Portal getting a recycle bin. But I'm not the only user who wants this functionality in Portal also.

Agree. Just found the AGOL Recycle Bin option this a.m. so hoping the option will be available soon for Portal as an enhancement/patch as opposed to 11.4 option since we just updated to 11.3.

We do not provide patches for new functionality or enhancements in older releases of ArcGIS Enterprise.

The ArcGIS Enterprise product team is aware of the recycle bin feature but it is not in the current product plan for the 11.4 release. If possible, we recommend opening an official user enhancements through Esri Support, as this allows the Esri Support team to document the specific use cases and requirements from each customer.

I have no idea how to open an official user enhancement if this thread is not the place to ask for new functionality. Nor do I wish for any patch to any current versions of Enterprise.

What I want is for ESRI to put a recycle bin function in the roadmap featureset for the 11.5 release.. So it's positive that the product team is aware of this. 🙂

The basic use case is for an administrator it's difficult to know which items are being used in the portal as it is now. So when I need to clean up the mess of old services, test services etc. Many of these can have similar names.. This makes it very risky to delete items.. If I delete an item that turn out to be in use, the only option I have currently is to restore the entire server, which is a huge complicated process in which I need to involve a lot of other people. Also restoring the entire server will likely overwrite other new items with older ones and cause it's own problems.

Thanks for your reply. 

Unfortunately we are unable to commit to a particular release for the recycle bin. The product management team is aware of the request and use case. 

Echoing what @MarleyGeddes suggested: I would recommend submitting an official enhancement request through Esri Support. This allows you (and any other user!) who would like to see the recycle bin at a future release of ArcGIS Enterprise to fully document use cases and requirements.
