They are used to having a +/- button on the map layer to zoom in and zoom out on the map with a pre-defined zoom range. For reference, they use GURU Maps currently and are looking for the same zoom functionality in FieldMaps.
We have shown them the current FieldMaps behaviour where the double finger/Single finger tap can be used to zoom in and out.
The aviation team expressed that the out of the box zoom functionality would not work well for them. The outlined the following aviation related use case:
While doing pipeline patrols in either a fixed wing or rotary wing aircraft and the iPad device running the FieldMaps application is mounted, the iPAD does not remain 100% static and it can move because of the aircraft movement. Because of this scenario, when the pilots go to zoom in/zoom out using current FieldMaps zoom functionality, they have reported that the focus area on the map can change due to the device movement which in turn doesn't allow the zoom in/out to be accurate. They are requesting the +/- zoom function to enable a better experience with more accuracy and less eyes-down time to ensure safety is preserved in the air.
