Custom Symbols Not Dispalying in ArcGIS Pro

Question

I have custom styles that I have used in the past in ArcMap 10.4 that I've imported into ArcGIS Pro and they don't work. I can see the symbols in list after importing but they just random characters and not the appropriate symbols. In windows I can see the symbols properly. This is also the case in my ArcMap 10.4 now as I recently got a new computer and my styles don't work there either.

Any ideas?

The problem is that the symbols don't work in ArcMap now either when I import the style. Ever since I moved to a new computer and had to reinstall ArcMap there the symbols didn't work.

have you tried importing an mxd with the symbols you use?
