Portal for ArcGIS Server 10.3 License

According to Esri (documented in this link), the Protal for ArcGIS Server 10.3 needs only ArcGIS Server 10.3 Advanced License. I tried to install the portal on a production server with ArcGIS Server 10.3 installed and licensed (advanced license). However, after completing the installation of the portal, it asked me about the license and I used the ecp file for ArcGIS Server 10.3, it accepted it; but when opening the portal it asks me for authorization. Does this mean that there is a separate license for the portal?

Yes, The license of Portal for ArcGIS is separate. Although, if you are having ArcGIS for Server Enterprise Std./Adv. license under maintenance period, you could generate a key of portal for ArcGIS from https://my.esri.com or contact your local Esri Distributor.

I had to log in just to click helpful here, because I just had this same issue... installed Portal for my Enterprise 10.3 Server, and I gave it my .ecp file to authorize. It said "Good to go" and closed out. Then I can't log in because I'm not authorized - going in circles!

Didn't realize there was a seperate code I have to go download now. Thanks for the tip!

Does Portal for ArcGIS have its own authorization link on my.esri.com? Or is it bundled with ArcGIS for Server Standard Enterprise? Either way, I do not see this option in my.esri.com under Licensing for my organization.

I had to call ESRI and they're setting it up for me in my myESRI account. I didn't have access to a Portal authorization either, even though I have an Enterprise Advanced 10.3.1 auth. Apparently they will add a new button that will allow me to generate a "name users" file that I will supply as an auth file.
