How to Share a Custom Toolbox

Hello Everyone,

I know this or similar question has been posted to Geonet before. I have read questions and answers before posting my question. However, I'm not still clear enough on this matter. One of my students created a model using the model builder for ArcGIS Desktop and save it as a tool. He emailed it to me but I ended up with no luck  when I tried to run the tool.  I can only see this message : This tool has no parameters.  I would appreciate if you could kindly let me know what is the best workflow to share a custom toolbox.

That message means that no inputs are allowed into the tool other than those that were provided to the original tool.

If you student mean for you to be able to vary the inputs and outputs, then there should be a P on those parameters on the model diagram.... Get them to open up the model and right click on the appropriate ovals/bubbles/whatever and select the '... make variable from parameter ….' (or words to that effect).  

So it is simple... no P, no input variables or output results
