Hi Jon,
Thanks for responding. I have tried <defaultselectionoption> in my XML but its still doing the same.
I have tried commenting few lines and its working, but initially its not highlighting the graphical search state when it loads but displays later after performing some operation.

With out modifications to my code the defaultselectionoption in the SearchWidget.xml work fine. Once you have changed code in my widgets I can not guarantee anything...

ESRI seems to have an issue with domains and pre ArcGIS Server 10, so if you are using Server 9.3 than that is the issue.

Stuart,

SQL for searching by dates are specific to the underlying database. So are you talking a SDE map service using SQL Server or Oracle, or maybe a file GeoDb?

In that case, than the expression would be "datefield = date 'yyyy-mm-dd'" This is straight out of the ArcGIS Desktop Help.

I just noticed this morning that when I enter a date it returns the records of the previous day. For example if I type 3/15/2011 it returns all the citations for 3/14/2011. Am I still missing something? Thanks.

Try adding a time to the query also:

I added the time to the expression, however the query returns zero results now. Without the time in the expression, it seems to want to roll the date back by one day, I tried entering 3/1/2011, it returns all the incidents from 3/1 however it displays the date in the results window as 2/28 (I dont have any incidents prior to 3/1). Strange.

I also noticed this behavior when I use the graphical search tool. When I select an incident from 4/1/2011, the info window displays the it as 3/31/2011.

Some work on your end... but can you test the date with the standard ESRI search widget and see if it has the same behavior?

I tested it in the standard ESRI search widget and I am receiving the same behavior. It seems to be the info window posting the wrong date. I even created a new feature class with a different service and still am receiving this behavior. Thanks.

are you using 2.3.1 for the viewer? What server version are you on and which service pack?

I'm using Flexviewer 2.3.1 and using Server version 10.0 (haven't installed any service packs for Server yet).

I've tried the latest version and it looks good. Now, how would I change it so that could search for a given date range? For example, let's say that the records not only contained a Zoning Code (like in your sample) but also an effective date (stored as 'Date' type, displaying as 6/1/2006, for example). How would I change the widget to search for Zoning Code 'OR1' effective between 1/1/2006 and 12/31/2006?

This widget is not designed to handle complex multi variable queries like you are requesting. It can be done but not in a "canned" query expression. The GUI is not setup for the 3 entries that your requested query would require.

There are tons of potential pitfalls to manipulating the code and the GUI... I would begin by really considering if your users need that much flexibility in the query or can you eliminate 1 or more of the variables by predefining certain values.

I understand, but the desire is that the end user can quickly receive records/points in a given date range (flexible range) for a given zone (over 250 fixed zones). Recommendations on date range?

And as far as searching a date range that is underlying database specific. Open your desktop help and search the help for querying dates to find examples of the proper SQL syntax.

Hi Robert,

Is it possible to use a a wildcard on a text search, in the out of the box the '%' is used, but cant seem to get it working on your widget.
Any ideas?
