Por que não consigo definir uma rede de fluxo?

Para desenvolver um protocolo de análise para meu projeto de pesquisa sobre drenagem de estradas em áreas florestais, criei uma máscara com uma porção muito pequena da área que estou estudando, entre dois braços de um lago (cerca de 300 km2), com o DEM que tenho para toda a área. Tentei executar DIREÇÃO DE FLUXO, DEPRESSÃO, PREENCHER e depois a ACUMULAÇÃO DE FLUXO, conforme indicado no arquivo de ajuda ("Derivando características do escoamento"). Na primeira tentativa, baseado na sintaxe das funções, usei a saída de cada função como entrada da seguinte. Notei que o resultado do PREENCHER era praticamente a mesma camada/tabela de atributos da sua entrada, o resultado da DEPRESSÃO; e o resultado final, da ACUMULAÇÃO DE FLUXO, foi uma camada sem tabela de atributos! (mostrada em cinza claro ao clicar com o botão direito na camada). Então reinterpretei o fluxograma da ajuda e decidi executar o PREENCHER usando a saída da DIREÇÃO DE FLUXO diretamente como sua entrada (a mesma que eu tinha usado como entrada para a DEPRESSÃO, que mostrou um alto número de depressões). O resultado foi mais consistente, uma camada visualmente bastante semelhante à entrada (na escala 1:100.000), mas com valores diferentes nos 255 registros. NO ENTANTO, usar esse raster como entrada para ACUMULAÇÃO DE FLUXO levou a um aparente <\/SPAN>loop infinito<\/SPAN>! Está rodando há 6 horas, quando me levou apenas 1 hora para fazer todo o processo (com muitos passos adicionais) manualmente, sobre o mapa em papel na escala 1:100.000. O arquivo de ajuda realmente nos previne que isso pode acontecer, mas somente se usarmos uma entrada não criada com DIREÇÃO DE FLUXO. Minha entrada é um DEM sem depressões criado com DIREÇÃO DE FLUXO, seguido pela função PREENCHER. Se alguém tiver tempo e paciência para me ler, poderia ser gentil o suficiente para me informar sua melhor hipótese do porquê não estou conseguindo definir a rede de fluxo? Além disso, eu precisaria do ArcHydro e/ou HEC-GeoHMS para fazer essa análise simples de uma grande área, com milhares de pontos de bueiros (além da delimitação e cálculo dos principais atributos das bacias em cada bueiro). I think you are not following the proper order of the steps. Doing it they way you are explaining does not make sense to me.

It helps me to think of the DEM as a physical model I need to manipulate a little before the water will shed off it "correctly". Think of the grids in he DEM as tiles with different elevations. The DEM usually includes grids that are not a the flowline of the creek (bridges/culverst) or poorly defined watersheds such as areas in the flat lands. So, I have to lower the grid in some places and raise it in others in order to make the water flow where is should. Then there are all the minor imperfections in the DEM of small local sinks that need to be filled so the water will flow in the right direction.

Once I'm done filling the sinks, I want to have a "hydrologically correct" DEM. Once I have a good filled DEM, the rest should be correct also. With the filled DEM (fil), the flow direction will be "correct" and then the flow accumulation will also be correct. If I find later that an important stream is in the wrong place or an important watershed boundary is incorrect, then I have to go back and correct the fil DEM.

If you have Arc Hydro installed, the order of steps in the Terrain Processing in generally the same order as the functions are listed in the Terrain processing menus. You probably don't need to use all of them.

My steps using Arc Hydro are as follows: (You can follow these in general with in the Spatial Analyst Tool>Hydrology, but there are not parallel tools there to all the Arc Hydro tools.)

1) Terrain Processing>DEM Manipulation>DEM Reconditioning. Use a polyline layer for the streams to "burn" in the streams where they should be. This lowers the DEM in the vicinity of the stream features.  Many times the DEM will not provide enough definition for the subsequent processes to define streams. It can be helpful to put a short line just a bridges or culverts to "breach" them and avoid fill behind them and flow directions around them. You may need to put in polylines for the streams and major drainage systems in some places.
2) Terrain Processing>DEM Manipulation>Build Walls. Only do this if you need to define a watershed "ridge" in a flat area of the DEM.
3) Terrain Processing>DEM Manipulation>Fill Sinks
4) Terrain Processing>Flow Direction
5) Terrain Processing>Flow Accumulation
6) Terrain Processing>Stream Definition
7) Terrain Processing>Stream Segmentation

10) Terrain Processing>Drainage Line Processing
11) Terrain Processing>Adjoint Catchment Processing

The above steps assume a simple dendritic system.  If you compare the steps to the Arc Hydro menus you will see that there are a lot of functions that I don't typically use.
