data validation in forms

I'm new to ArcPad development and could use some help with data enrty validation. How can I get ArcPad to alert me if text is entered into a numeric field before closing the form? Thanks.

If your form is linked to a geodatabase, you could start off by defining these text and number fields in your geodatabase? ArcPad will then warn the user automatically?
