Filter Webmap_creating interactive filters

I made a map online (with data from gis desktop) and shared it with the FILTER template.

How do I create custom filters? Is it through the web map or the template?

You can add your filter in the web map prior to creating the web map application.  Next to the layer you want to add the filter to, click the arrow/carrot to the right and choose the filter option.  Also see:
