gp.ListRasters not listing rasters in proper order

Hello,

I have created a couple scripts for some batch processing of some time series MODIS data.  The scripts loops through a folder of rasters and conducts different types of geoprocessing such as clip, SOMA, or reclassify depending on the script.

I have attached one of the scripts that is giving me some issues. For some reason the last folder of rasters I've tried to analyze has had some problems with the gp.ListRasters(*) function skipping a bunch of the rasters listed in the folder.  I want the script to process the rasters in chronological order so I've sorted them that way in the folder, but for some reason some of the rasters are being missed or analyzed out of sequence despite the fact they are listed in chronological order in the workspace folder (see attached picture for file names and folder structure).  For instance the attached script keeps jumping to raster image Montana_Canada_Snow_extent_A2000D273.tif and is not processing all the rasters occurring before it in the folder (i.e. skips Montana_Canada_Snow_extent_A2000D059.tif to Montana_Canada_Snow_extent_A2000D265.tif).   Once the script starts geoprocessing at Montana_Canada_Snow_extent_A2000D273.tif it continues running in the correct chronological sequence, but I can't figure out why the first few rasters are being skipped. Any ideas why this is occurring? Do I need to reset the raster list somehow before I create the new raster list using gp.ListRasters?

Have you tried just running this on your workspace to see what you get?

rsList = gp.ListRasters("*")
rsList.sort
for rs in rsList:
    print rs

And I think the syntax for list sorting is .sort() I could be wrong though.
