Playing with database without Editor

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if it would be possible to play with databases without the editor component from ArcGIS.
My problem is that I'm trying to modify the infoWindow from the editor when clicking on a feature in the map but it looks to me impossible to do as I wish after lot of research on forums/docs.
