Can anyone help me with a setup of a Juniper system in Field Maps

Question

Let me start with what I had and how it was used….

I had an old Trimble Goo7X that I have been collecting points with for a water system for well over 10 years. I would bring that back into the office and use Pathfinder Office for the data correction before I was importing it into ACAD. We have recently started using Esri and now have the mapping system in there along with acad.

We just got a Juniper Geode GNS3H and have a RTK subscription. The plan is to update the features and collect new data in real time within the Field Maps app

I have set the coordinate system up and it appears all the old data points are off by over 2 feet. I found a USGS survey grade benchmark and navigated to it. I am about 7.5 feet off it.

I have talked to Juniper and they have not been able to tell me how to set it up within field maps. I haven’t had any luck finding anyone that can point me in the right direction.

The accuracy in both the Juniper Geode Connect App and the Field Maps App are showing my accuracy under an inch. If I collect a new point with the Juniper I can navigate directly back to that point. But it’s off of any old points and farther off of the USGS benchmark.

Web map coordinate system is WGS 1984 Web Mercator (Auxiliary Sphere)

RTK is NAD 83 (2011)

I set up a profile in Field maps as such.

GNSS coordinate system = GCS NAD 1983 2011 6318

Map Coordinate System = WGS 1984 Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere

Datum transformation = ~WGS_1984_(ITRF08)_TAD_1983_2011  USA – CONUS and Alaska; PRVI

That I the same settings that I know someone else is using nearby that is using a Trimble unit with Field Maps. I would assume mine should be the same. I know absolutely nothing about these units and have no clue as to what I’m doing. The last unit was set up by the guy that trained me on it. I have never had to change the settings since it has always worked. All I have ever done was collect data and import it into ACAD & Esri.

We don't use Juniper but Eos Arrow Gold with Field Maps and the setup is very similar. In Field Maps you need to tell it to use location data from the Geode unit instead of whatever device you are using (iPad, smartphone, etc).

Click your profile button, then under "Location" click "Provider". Then select "Add provider". You Juniper Systems device should show up on that list if it's Bluetooth connected to your device. Then select that.

I think that's the step you are missing. It's great that you have the location profile setup, that's also very important.

(Also, I've used Trimble Geo 7x for years before the Arrow Gold as well)

Hello. The location profile looks correct based on your GNSS receiver/corrections service coordinate system and map coordinate system. Were the old points added to a new hosted feature layer? What is the coordinate system of that layer? Regarding the offset from the USGS benchmark, did you manually navigate to the benchmark with a rover or add a point by searching for it in the map? In other words, at what point in the collection process are you seeing the offset?
