The upcoming update of ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App, scheduled for release on February 25, 2026, introduces a redesigned search experience to search for addresses, geographies, and places, new story layouts, enhanced points of interest search, more accessible infographics, new infographic templates, and refreshed data for demographics, places, business summaries, crime, and traffic.

Mapping and analysis workflow enhancements
Redesigned search experience
The core of any analysis begins with finding the right location. In this release, we have completely reimagined the map’s search tool to provide a more intuitive and efficient experience. We are introducing a unified search bar that allows you to find addresses, standard geographies, and points of interest (POIs), or browse recent searches, all in one place.
Gone are the days of manually toggling through drop-down menus to select a search type. Now, you can simply enter search terms directly. The system organizes results into clear, distinct groups, allowing you to identify and select the correct location at a glance.
Smarter points of interest search, clearer results
We are introducing key enhancements to the points of interest (POI) search workflow to provide greater consistency and precision. We introduces the Esri Categories system, a proprietary classification system that standardizes POI category searches across the DataAxle, SafeGraph, and Foursquare data sources into one consistent system. This means you can use the same POI categories and Saved searches in different data sources, ensuring your results are consistent and comparable without switching "languages" between data sources.
Navigating to specific industries is now easier with an expandable code hierarchy, allowing you to drill down into sub-categories rather than searching a flat list. We will also be adding support for advanced "OR" search logic, so you can combine multiple categories into one complex query.
Finally, Places icons are now used for default style for improved interpretation. Zooming to point features, which allows you to jump directly from a data row to its location on the map, together with new table customization options and buffer size selections in the summary table, will give you total control over how you explore your results.
Share results enhancements
Updated share to a story workflow: More layouts, more impact
Sharing your sites, maps, infographics, and reports to a story just got more creative. We will be adding new floating, docked, and slideshow layout options to the “Create a story” workflow. This added flexibility ensures your map and narrative are presented in the format that best fits your story. To help you find the perfect look, you’ll be able to preview these layouts and sample stories before making your selection.
Infographic updates
Accessible infographics for all
We’ll be introducing improved keyboard navigation and screen-reader support, specifically for complex elements like panels. We also updated design on standard infographics to improve our compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards. These updates make data insights more accessible to everyone.
Modernize your reports: A new era for insights
We are transitioning to a more polished and accessible reporting experience. In June 2026, the Classic Esri Report style will be removed. Moving forward, you will work with the new report style, which offers presentation-ready designs and improved accessibility out of the box.
While you will still be able to edit existing custom report templates—including adding, removing, or replacing variables—we strongly encourage you to migrate your workflows to the infographic builder. This transition will ensure you have the most intuitive editing experience.

Additionally, the editing and saving infographics experience will be streamlined. The infographic builder will now offer greater precision and flexibility with expanded theme layouts, more controls for Gauge charts, Tapestry panels, tables, and comparison tables. The name of the infographics will also be more consistent when you export into PDFs.
Other enhancements
Know your credit costs up front
Building on the success of our in-app credit estimation tool, we are expanding it to Add data workflows. You can now estimate credit usage for geocoding and site creation during Import files.
- We’ve refined the Living Atlas discovery experience to be more intuitive and reliable, helping you find the data you need faster. With clearer layer information and higher-quality thumbnails, navigating content will be more seamless. Plus, you will be able to stay organized by marking your favorite web maps and layers for quick access in the future.
- The nearby analysis workflow has been updated, including improvements when working with custom layers, improved table sorting, zooming to a point or site in the results tables, and new buffer size selections in the Site summary table.
- When setting map effects, you will have a new option to remove all effects in a single click.
- Administrators can set Business Analyst assistant (preview) access by ArcGIS Online organizational role.
Data and boundaries updates
The upcoming release will include updates to the following datasets:
- Standard Demographics for 45 European countries (2025). New NUTS boundaries and associated geography groups.
- Advanced Demographics for Germany from Nexiga (2025), Japan from Esri Japan (2026), and Thailand from Esri Thailand (2024).
- Business Summary data for the United States from Data Axle (December 2025)
- POIs: Thailand POIs from NOSTRA (October 2025), United States and Canada POIs from Data Axle (December 2025), United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico POIs from Safegraph (December 2025), global POIs from Foursquare Global Open Source (September 2025)
- U.S. Crime Indexes data from AGS (2025B)
- U.S. Traffic Counts data from Kalibrate (Q4 2025)
Esri Tapestry Segmentation retirement
In June 2026, the Esri Tapestry Segmentation system and 2024 dataset will be retired. It is recommended that ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App users take the following actions now to migrate to the new ArcGIS Tapestry dataset.
- Download your custom infographics and reports that use Esri Tapestry Segmentation. Switch your data source to Esri 2025, then upload your custom infographics and reports. In the custom infographics and reports that used Esri Tapestry Segmentation variables, replace missing variables with ArcGIS Tapestry variables or the new Tapestry infographic panel.
- Update saved lists containing deprecated 2024 Esri Tapestry Segmentation variables by replacing missing variables with 2025 ArcGIS Tapestry variables.
- Recreate custom variables that reference the 2024 Esri Tapestry Segmentation variables using 2025 ArcGIS Tapestry variables.

SIC codes transition to NAICS codes
SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) codes will be removed from Business Analyst in the ArcGIS Online June 2026 update. You are required to transition to NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) codes. SIC codes will continue to be available as a Data Axle POI data attribute. SIC-based business summaries will be discontinued. You will need to be prepared for the following changes in June:
- Users will use Business Summary Report – NAICS (Tabular) moving forward.
- Any SIC-based variables will be removed from the data browser.
- Only NAICS codes will be available for points of interest (POI) search, nearby analysis, and void analysis.
- SIC-based business variables will be removed from your saved lists.

ArcGIS Community Analyst retirement
