I have created a series of storymaps that are self-guided tree identification tours: ThinkTrees Tree Tours | AustinTexas.gov I intend to continue making new tours at different locations.
I have used image galleries to show photos of the tree in situ and also detailed photos of each species. The list of species varies by location. Every time I make a new storymap, I have to recreate the image galleries from scratch. This includes adding the photos, ordering them correctly, adding attribution, and writing alt text.
As it is, I have a few options: 1. use a template with all species included (currently 57, with only 10-12 in most tours) and delete the ones I don't need each time, then reorder the remainder; 2. use a limited template with some common species, delete the ones I don't need, reorder the remainder, and add any species not already there; 3. Build a new storymap from scratch each time and recreate the image galleries by opening existing storymaps and copy-pasting each individual text component one at a time.
I have opted for 2., but I still have to switch back and forth between multiple maps to get all the species I need with the correct attribution and alt text (and each time, I must go into edit mode in the storymap I am copying to see the alt text so I can copy it, then re-publish). Dragging/deleting the various components of each species (title, subtitle, image gallery, and text block{s}) actually takes as long as building from scratch, or so it seems at times.
If you could add the ability to copy-paste the entire image gallery in one action, it would save me hours each time I make a new tour (actually 2 new tours each time, in English and Spanish--with the potential for other languages in future--and I am not fluent in Spanish so I need to either copy-paste or use google translate and get it reviewed by a fluent speaker every time).
