ArcGIS Pro - "import requests" runs infinitely

Executing the command "import requests" just doesn't finish in a notebook in ArcGIS Pro

I've already tried running it in different projects, updating packages and going back to original environment. None of those helped. Tried it outside of ArcGIS Pro with no issues and on my colleague's computer also with no problems. 

What can I do?

from the command line in the arcgispro-py3 do a

conda list requests

and see if the installed packages match those listed here (assuming you are using Pro 3.5)
