Hello everyone!
My name is Chassety, and I’m a recent graduate from Texas Tech University currently taking a gap year to travel the world! It’s been an amazing experience making connections across the globe, and I’m excited to do the same here.
I recently published my first post in the YPN Blog, where I share more about my geospatial journey—feel free to check it out!
A quick update since that post: my next stop is Southeast Asia! If you have any recommendations for places to visit or know anyone conducting research in the region, I’d love to hear from you.
Looking forward to connecting with you all!

Congrats on your YPN blog post, Chassety! Your journey sounds inspiring. Wishing you an amazing time in Southeast Asia
Hi Chassety! Congrats on graduating and what an exciting way to spend your gap year- traveling and exploring the world sounds like an incredible experience. Southeast Asia is such a beautiful and diverse region! Wishing you safe travels and hoping you continue making amazing connections along the way. Looking forward to seeing where your journey takes you next!
Safe Travels!
Hi Chassety,
Welcome to the region! I strongly recommend visiting Singapore! It's my home turf, so if it’s on your itinerary, you’re in for a treat. It’s a compact city with plenty of geo-innovation hubs—and the food scene is legendary. Don’t miss hawker staples like Hainanese chicken rice, laksa, and kaya toast. Happy to point you to interesting GIS projects or must-see spots while you’re here. Safe travels!
