'Date of creation' in attribute table

Hi. I have a layer containing a bunch of points. I'd like to add a field in the attribute table that automatically displays the date each point was created.  I've tried adding date-field in many ways but but I just can't make it work. I'm using ArcGIS desktop 20.8.2. Please help

Would it be possible to add editor tracking on this feature layer? This would allow the creation date to be filled in when a user adds a feature.

This will only add the creation date for the items that are added after this is enabled though, it may not add the previous historical additions.
