Table to Excel Row Limitation

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry if this question has already been answered but I didn't find anything on this topic.

Does anyone know if Esri is planning to move from xls to xlsx in the Table to Excel geoprocessing tool? The 65535 rows and 256 columns limit is annoying sometimes.

Also, on the Portal, you can export to xlsx format which offers bigger limits.

@MariusVerdes It looks like if you type the .xlsx extension at the end of the file name in the GP tool you can get the xlsx file format.

The output folder shows that it supports XLS or XLSX

"The extension of the output file controls the output Excel format" and "Specify the format of the Excel file using the .xls or .xlsx file extension."
