ArcSDE tool for ArcCatalog Version 10

In ArcGIS 9.3.1 there was an ArcSDE tool that you could add into ArcCatalog to administer feature class permissions. After it was installed it would appear as a tab in ArcCatalog next to the Preview tab. Is there a version of this available for ArcGIS Desktop 10?

Work by John Karagiannis is what you are looking for, although I don't think he has updated any of the ArcSDE tabs since 9.3.

Here is the latest link I could find - ArcSDE User Privileges Report (9.3 SP1) , but much of this functionality has been added to the privileges routine in catalog at 10

I'm personally looking forward to seeing the GDB management capabilities in 10.1 Final having been a "fan" of GDBT over the years.

I am also very interested in an update on this tool as well. As a City entity running an Enterprise database, we have over 600 objects in SDE. The notes on the previous versions mentioned:

"The ArcSDE Privileges View provides a report of user privileges on a selected
Geodatabase object (Table, Feature Class, Feature Dataset, Raster, Raster Catalog)
or on all objects within a selected Spatial Database Connection."

Since we have so many feature classes, I was hoping to get the "selected Spatial Database Connection" option, which sdetable -o list_grantees does not provide.

Just to add to this post. Our authority would really like to see this for version 10 too!!!
Any sort of tool that will allow you to view priviliges of the feature classes would be so helpful!!!!

I think you're referring to the ArcSDE Privileges Report. It added a tab to ArcCatalog that allowed you to see who had Viewer/Editor privileges over the entire geodatabase or on individual data objects. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated for ArcGIS 10 as of this date.

At ArcSDE 10 you can use the sdetable -o list_grantees command to list permissions for each user granted access to the table. For example

sdetable -o list_grantees -t dbo.parcels

User Name: GISEditors
Privileges: SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE

User Name: GISViewers
Privileges: SELECT

I'm also interesting in knowing if/when the SDE privileges tool is updated for ArcCatalog 10. In our particular case, we no longer have access to commandline at our nation-wide datacenter to run the command above.

Any suggestions for those of us who already no longer have commandline and will no longer the ArcSDE privs tab in ArcCatalog as we migrate to 10?

Any ideas appreciated! If such a functionality did get incorporated into the GDBT, that would be great, but don't drop the versioning lineage, please!

GDBT hasn't provided functionality to administer feature class user privs. Not a bad idea. I would use the info provided by the previous post.
