Setting different status for closed jobs

I noticed that no matter how you close a job (at any step or by just clicking the close button) it will always assign the same status code for the job.  Is there a way to configure a specific status depending on how you want to close the job?  I will like to be able to identify jobs that are closed because they were "completed" apart for those that are closed because they are "canceled".

 

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks @sirishb, that's basically what we are looking for.  Also we noticed that the "percent completed" in the job is not retained neither so we can't use that as an alternative (ex. closed jobs with 50% completion".  

We implemented the extended properties option as a workaround a few months back but found another limitation for us related to accessing this properties (everyone or no one scenario).
