ArcMap had little pictures next to the tab name, making it easy to know which tab I wanted when I had quite a few of them open.
Conversely, in ArcPro, I only get the first 1-2 letters of the pane name.
I would like to have the little images - I think they're called favicons - migrated to ArcPro.
Great idea!
Thank you for posting this idea @MichelleTotman This is very much related to https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/fade-pane-tab-labels-rather-than-truncating-with/idi-p/1225898 (the pain point is the same, different proposed solution). I just wanted to document the association between the two ideas.
Thanks again
As a visual person, and also just from an accessibility stand point - I love this idea and would love to implement this. For users who are migrating, I think this would also be very helpful to "bridge the gap". Great idea!
This is planned for ArcGIS Pro 3.4.
Panes will have icons to make them more identifiable than text only:
Hovering on a tab will display its name:
Close Tab Group and Close Others are added to the context menu (I'm a pretty big fan of Close Others as a nice alternative to Reset Panes):
This is implemented in ArcGIS Pro 3.4. Go to Your Ideas in ArcGIS Pro 3.4 to see other ideas implemented this release and check out the What's New help to learn about everything that is new and improved in ArcGIS Pro 3.4.
