Missing polygon curves after a delete and append?

Hello - 

I have created a model that simply deletes data from a feature, then appends data from another. It runs every night.

Today, we have found the issue that curves in the original data are being converted to lines. Has anybody else had this issue? Is there an easy solution that I may be missing?

Featureclass in a file geodatabase is the destination?  What is the source?

have you set this in the append tool's environments?
