Is there a way to update the WSS url to use the external domain?
wss://machine:6143/arcgis/ws/services/Dataset/StreamServer

You might try to configure the WebSocketContextURL on your ArcGIS Server. That is a server property I have not worked with in a long time, but the following post might be helpful.
