Highly Available ArcGIS Server with CIFS share for config-store and server directories

Is configuring a 2-node HA ArcGIS Server using a Windows CIFS share for the config-store and server directories supported?  Anyone ever have any issues with this setup, or have any best practices or gotchyas?  I'm not in the SysAdmin world and there is no mention of CIFS share anywhere in the documentation so don't know if it meets the requirements for HA Server.  Also we plan to migrate an active-standby 2-node Portal to this share as well.

are you sure it is CIFS ?
That's a pretty old protocol name (see https://www.varonis.com/blog/cifs-vs-smb/ and https://blog.fosketts.net/2012/02/16/cifs-smb/)

Are you actually meaning SMB? or SAMBA  publishing a Linux share as SMB?

SMB v1 (CIFS) is generally not recommended - but in a pinch, you can use it provided you disable OpLocks as this causes many issues with Service Publishing

If using SMB2 or SMB3 - the conservative recommendation is to set Leasing Mode to "None" and Caching
