Converting Shapefile to Non-Standard Projection: Seeking Guidance
I've encountered a mapping challenge that delves into the realm of custom projections, and I'm in need of some expert advice. I'm working with a shapefile that needs to be projected into a custom coordinate system which, unfortunately, doesn't have a corresponding EPSG code. The issue arises when attempting to align this…

Project shape file to a custom projection that does not exist in EPSG
Hello! I am facing issues with projections when I try to match custom projections with EPSG projections from ArcMap. I have a xarray.Dataset in python with the following coordinate system: '+proj=lcc +units=m +a=6370000.0 +b=6370000.0 +lat_1=30.0 +lat_2=60.0 +lat_0=40.0 +lon_0=-97.0 +x_0=0 +y_0=0 +k_0=1.0 +nadgrids=@null…

Data Alignment Issues
Hi, I am relatively new to the ESRI world so I hope this makes sense. I am mapping fiber networks for a telecom company and I have been appending individual fiber areas into one main fiber network. This main database is a traditional versioned GDB that resides in Enterprise SQL data store. The projection for the data set…

Shapefile converted from CADD not visible when zooming to layer
Hello everyone, I received a shapefile (which was not zipped and maybe that is the issue it came in the email as just a .shp etc.) which I threw into a folder. This data was a CADD file not sure if it was microstation or auto desk, but it had been converted to a shapefile and needed a projection assigned to it. I did that…

change orientation of a layer
Hello. I'm quite new to ArcGIS and need to know how to change the orientation of a specific layer keeping other layers in the frame fixed. When I tried rotation, all the other layers too get rotated. Both layers are in the same coordinate reference system. (Given in the screenshot below, I need to rotate the top layer…

AGOL New Map Viewer - Data not in WGS 84
I am testing a work flow that would allow Field Maps to collect data in a StatePlane projection. If I publish a point FC to AGOL in StatePlane - I can edit (create new data) in the AGOL Classic Map Viewer - but not the new style viewer. Subsequently, I cannot edit the data in Field Maps. Any hints on how to achieve this?

Point value Change after projection - USGS DEM Raster VS Imagery Layer from Esri
Hello Tech. I'm working on a project that requires National level DEM data, and I'd like to thank ESRI for providing the imagery layer (https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=0383ba18906149e3bd2a0975a0afdb8e). * For the most part, the extracted point values from the USGS raster and the ESRI imagery layer are very close.…

conversion form WGS84 Web Mercator (auxiliary sphere) to NAD 1983 (2011) StatePlane New York East FIPS 3101 (US Feet)
Hi everyone, We have been collecting data with a GPS unit in NAD 1983 (2011) StatePlane New York East FIPS 3101 (US Feet). Then the Collector for ArcGIS App were converting this to WGS84 Web Mercator (auxiliary sphere) as it was using ESRI basemaps. Now I am trying to project the GPSd data to NAD 1983 (2011) StatePlane New…

Euclidean Distance tool
Hello friends, I am facing problems in getting the right results after using Euclidean distance tool. the output layer is fine, I want my result in meters, the layer properties, data frame is there in meters, I am suspecting that my projections and coordinates are not matching, I am not sure about the problem. Please help!…

Display the active map projection system in the map and layout pane
At the bottom of the map and layout windows you can easily see what display units are being used as shown in the attached screen shot. In this case meters It would be equally useful to also show the map projection/coordinate system used for each map that is part of a project. Regards Bob

Map Projections and buffer calculation around a point
I have a bunch of data all in EPSG:4326 for which I need to calculate some buffers around particular points in this data. I am using the Esri geometry engine in java to accomplish this (https://github.com/Esri/geometry-api-java). There is a nice API call available to produce these buffers. My users are used to providing…

1983 datum with 1993 corrections
Hello! I'm trying to map point from survey plats that are using a state plane coordinate system with 1983 datum with 1993 corrections. With further research it seems they would fall under 1883 HARN, but this is still visually off by 500 yards or so. Does anyone have another idea of the datum I should use or have…

Automated Map Projection Selection ArcMap Python Add-in
In case anyone out there is interested, a few months ago I published an ArcGIS Python Add-in Toolbar which automates the selection of map projections for your specific project. It was created by developing a selection scheme based on the user purpose, and also takes an input feature class which defines the user's area of…

Change Coordinate System from Field Verified Data
Hello All! I have a little dilemma, we inherited field verified data sets, and the data was collected using a World Coordinate System rather than a state plane that we've been using in our GIS. I want to be able to run topology rules but I am unable to because of the field verified datasets having a different GCS than the…

NAD83 to NAD83 HARN Florida transformation seems off
Depending on which transformation I use I get inconsistent results when converting points from NAD83 Florida State Plane East (SPE) (the vanilla 1986 one) to NAD83 HARN Florida State Plane East. ITRF2014 transformation
Does anyone have any information about Trimble RTX and using it within Collector? I have heard there is a data shift because the transformation from ITRF2014 is not supported yet. Esri and Trimble have said this is a high priority. My question is why would the transformation be hard to write? What am I missing? Isn't it…

ArcGIS Pro 2.4.1 - Why ArcGIS Pro freeze display when pan & zoom out of projection extent?
Hi, I am having problems when trying projections for mapping in ArcGIS Pro.
