I'm not sure how to move a feature while editing. I can add and delete but can't move the point. I've looked at the properties and full editing has been enabled. I can't figure out how to move the feature to another location.

The issue is with the m values being enabled on the feature class when the feature class was created. The feature service then gets the property m values: true. You can see this at the REST endpoint of the feature service: HasM: true. The map viewer prevents the editing of geometries when the m values have been enabled b/c they do not support editing m values and the feature would lose the values on features if you edited there geometry in the map viewer.
I just achieved this end by creating an empty shapefile with m-Values = TRUE, and then copied all of the data from my original dataset into the new featureclass. Uploaded to AGOL and selected with the point-click method. In my case, I have over 1000 points in the same location so after I selected the pile of points, I had to choose which record to edit from a dialog box. I would really like to be able to select a point from the attribute table but I guess that's not a thing yet. As long as I matched up the OID, I can accurately choose which feature I want to relocate
Using the Smart Editor, you can edit geometry by entering the coordinates. I altered the coordinate tool (default) to use the Web Mercator (no TKWKID needed)
1) select item in smart editor.
2) identify the correct location with the coordinate tool in the lower left corner. highlight and copy the coordinates
3) choose the xy option under edit geometry
4) paste the coordinates. cut the longitude, paste it in the next field.
5) this moves the point. save edit.
with degrees, but switching to lat then long in the display for convenience, and also adding more numerals for precision. This allows for a quicker edit.
My solution was this: Move non-editable layers to the bottom of the layer list.
I always had HasM: false.
TLDR; I had a web map with layers from multiple hosted feature services (HFS). Some services where editable and others where not. I noticed if I opened the editable HFS within it's own new web map, I could move points around with no problem. I could NOT move points in the original web map with all the services. I was comparing JSONs, nothing much there that stood out, but out of sheer luck I turned off the visibility of the non-editable layers and I was able to move my editable points. But I needed to view non-editable layers, so I moved them to the bottom of the list and vualá!
Same issue on ArcGIS online. HasZ: false
HasM: false
I wish that applied here. It is a simple symbology, Location (Single Symbol), with no filters, no attributes-based styling, no labeling, no pop-ups, and lives in its own map with no other layers than the required basemap.Thanks for your suggestion, however.
Its been a while since I had this issue but I did get it to work. I believe what worked for me was what Frank Vignati said in this post. Remove any attribute based symbology in the webmap you want to use for your application.
Exact same issue here with a point layer. All settings set properly/as noted above, no presence of M/Z values, cross-validated in IE11/Edge/Chrome/Firefox/Edge (Chromium-based), and all fail to edit/move the point data.
It is only editable using ArcGIS Pro/ ArcMap on desktop.

check layer list and turn off layers above the layer you are trying to edit. I found that I couldnt edit a point features geometry that was bellow a Parcel polygon feature on the layer list unless the parcel was either moved below the point layer or turned off.
I found that if a polygon feature is over the point feature that I can not edit the geometry of the lower layer. check the layer list and turn off layers above it and see if you can edit it then.
I managed to find a solution for myself. Here's how.
I had the same issue: M values were disabled but points still wouldn't move. I tried removing labels from points in my webmap --> points move. I tried re-enabling the labels -->points won't move. So the solution for me was to remove the labels from the editable webmap.

I'd suggest getting in touch with tech support to look into the specific issue if the suggestions on this post aren't helping to resolve the issue. A tech support analyst can dedicate time and testing to your specific dataset to get to the bottom of the issue in a timely manner.

This post began in January 2016. Its now January 2019 and still no resolution to this? ESRI if you are out there, not being able to edit features is kind of a big problem!
I'm having same issues. Cant move point features using the editing tools in my app. I have an editable feature service layer. No M values. Loaded into a web map I used to create a web app. Within the app, I cant move geometry. Tried edit and smart edit widgets. Feature layer settings are set to edit, layer shared, etc. Seems like an issue with bad outdated editing widgets that don't work.

Hi All, My situation is exactly like Richard Syme's, except that I'm working with a hosted feature service. It's a pain to have to delete a feature and recreate it in the proper position! Anyone with new discoveries?
I'm also having a similar issue. The layer whose features I'm trying to move has HasM: false. The strange thing is that I can move some features in the layer but not other features. Also, some features will display the little hand when you hover over them indicating that they can be moved (and they can), while other features require that you first display the pop-up then the little white hand appears (and can then move them), while other features can't be moved at all...

I'm using a hosted feature layer (point layer) that was published from ArcGIS Pro, M not enabled (on desktop, I don't know how to check if M is enabled online?). When opening a web map, user can update attributes and add new data - these can be saved (and in edit tab "undo" button is active when change is made). User can also drag a point to a new location - but this can't be saved, "undo" not active, when exiting the map, all changes are lost... Is there a solution to this? Has anyone had similar experience?
Thanks Russell. With the feature selected you will see the cursor change to the 'hand' when you hover over the line - then you can click and drag
I found the issue. In order to select the feature and see the attribute popup, you must drag select it with the tool, but if you want to move it, you need to just single click on it, then move it.
Has this been resolved for anyone? I've checked all of the suggestions, Enable Editing is on and HasM: False.
Yet I cannot update.
I'm serving the point feature classing using ArcGIS Portal 10.4, the data are in a verisioned gdb and working with the map in an app. Anything?

I'm having the same issue, Portal 10.3 editable feature service, HasM:false. I did not add the feature service to Portal as an item, just added the layer directly from our server.

It looks like the issue above was caused by M values being required on the data. If you navigate to your rest endpoint? do you see the following parameter HasM: true.?

Well, I see SOMEONE has tried to edit an hour or 2 ago. They added a feature, but no other lines have moved.
Here's the link. The features are only demo for showing mobile mapping capabilities to another office so all of the features on the map are essentially meaningless. Feel free to edit however you like.

I can edit lines, can you share your map with my test account russrob and I can see if I can repro this issue. Also what browser are you using?

I've found the same issue, but only with line features. I can edit/move a polygon feature in the same feature service, but the only way I can interact with a line feature is editing the attributes.
HOWEVER
I can edit that line feature using the Collector app on my Android.
I would say it appears to be a bug.

I know you said you've checked the permissions but just to verify...
On the feature class, click on edit and look under Properties > Editing section.
Make sure that Add, update and delete features is the option selected.
Same issue here and none of the above seems to help. I can edit, create and delete but unable to move a feature. The only to move the feature is to bring it back to my desktop and work on it (slow) or move it in Collector.
When you click edit on the feature in the popup, click and grab the feature with your mouse and then you can drag the point feature to that new location.
With editing enabled try clicking on the "Edit Button" located between "Add" and "Basemap". This should bring up a screen allowing you to add data points. While this screen is active you should be able to relocate existing points.
this happens sometimes if the features are symolized based on an attribute, if you change the symbol to a location only type it works better
