I'm trying to calculate the leaf area index of different vegetation species at each state in the US and I'm using a netcdf (.nc4) raster file for the LAI and a usual shapefile (with polygons) for defining the state boundary. I converted the net cdf file into a raster file using the "Make NetCDF raster layer tool". I'm using the Clip tool (< Raster Processing < Raster < Data management tools < Arc toolbox) in the arctool box to clip the raster layer and the polygons. So in this case, my output extent are the states that I choose from
