New layer from the app

can you create a NEW layer in a map directly from the app or do you need create the layer and place in the online maps? Thanks

Collector works with the map as created in ArcGIS Online, you would need to add a new layer to a map via ArcGIS Online and get the user to refresh the map in Collector.
