I am trying to create a layer by uploading an Excel sheet. I have latitude/longitude coordinates that are formatted as numbers. The locations do not display in the layer I created and when I open the table I see "No data found"
did you try Excel to table, then make XY event layer? or did you try directly?
I would also make sure that you format the columns explicitlu if you didn't since it doesn't take much to foul up a spreadsheet

This is very helpful advice and I appreciate your taking the time to read my question. I'm going to try the Excel to table method next time. This time I did do the direct import, and what was fouling it up was a stray special character. All resolved now.
