How to keep a dashed-line 'dashed' when zoomed out? (turns into a solid line)

Is there a way to keep a dashed line 'dashed' when zoomed out?? 
When I zoom out, all the dashes converge, making it look like a solid line!
or any other possible solutions? Can I draw some symbols and have every other one hide when I zoom out?

Which version are you using? The issue was resolved in the 3.0 version of the api.

2.4!  , awesome - I'll upgrade to 3!!
