Can I use the flex search widget when with data taken from ArcGIS online?

I am using a map from Arc GIS Online. I can't figure out how to use that data in the search widget. Where do I find the search url for the map.

It depends on how "that data" is being served out.  For example, if it's a feature layer then you just have to figure out its URL.  If it's "Map Notes", then no it can't be used with the search widget.
