Instance of service failed to process a request. AutomationException: null Server

I am using ArcServer 10.1 and just about every day I get this error in the server logs but on different services.  Usually it is proceeded by another sever error IMessage::ReadXML failed. Has anyone seen this behavior or know what causes it?

I am seeing the same thing in my server logs (10.2.) but only when accessing the services though ArcGIS Pro.  When they are used in our JavaScript application and ArcGIS Desktop (10.2) I am not getting these errors.
