The Enhanced Search Widget extends the standard search widget with a floating data grid and a new spatial query w/buffering.

Tried that too..nothing. I'm using 2.2.5f..I'll try a different flex site or maybe go to 2.2.5 (for the swf). I'll also make sure my xml is 2.2.5f

Do you have a test site that has data grid configured? The site for the widget does not have the grid configured.

Eric,

It has nothing to do with the version of the widget. As I said that is standard/default capability of flex data grids.

Are you not seeing the sort indicator as in the attached image?

Strange behavior - I can click (single or double) on the column heading and I do not see the little triangle, but if I adjust the column width then the triangle will appear. The results, however, are not sorted.

Are you saying you have tried more than one field and none of them sorts the data... I can not say that I see that. Even My demo site sorts the data in the data grid

i have a question about your feature maptip widget when you have a chance. Is it only functional with polygons or can you use points and lines as well? i cant seem to get it to work. thanks for your help as always.

I have found that 2 other searches do sort the results in the data grid. The 1 search that does not sort in the data has multiple search expressions set - so I have the drop-down to pick what field I would like to search. The 2 searches that sort properly only have 1 search criteria/expression.

As you can see on the demo live site the police stations are using the tooltip as well and they are points.
I you have any further discussion on that widget please start a new thread as this one is already 6 pages as is.

Nope, I just tested that theory an a layer that had 2 expressions using different fields the data grid still sorted on that layer. I would double check you field names and make sure you have them correct.

I'm trying to do a search that invoves an integer field. The expression is:

REACH_Num = '[value]'

But that's not working. Do I need to convert REACH_Num from an integer to text, and if so how is that done? Is it something like the upper() function?

The single quotes tell the underlying data base that you are attempting to search for a string. So no single quotes means a number or something else.

Has anyone seen the following error:
Index '-1' specified is out of bounds.

The error seems to pop after doing several searches that are configured using multiple expressions and on a joined feature class. I cannot reproduce this with a search on a non-joined feature class that is configured with only 1 expression.

It's always the simple things that get you. I spent an hour yesterday trying to fix an error, and it was just a missing set of quotes. Argh!

I've tested a bunch of scenarios on my end. Searches on features without a join (1 or more expressions) work fine. Searches on joined features do not sort (1 or more expressions). I have copied the fields just as they appear in the REST service directory. I have also tried this on numerous feature classes of differing geometry types. The only difference between the searches that sort and the searches that do not sort properly seems to be the join.

I have implemented the latest esearch widget. When using a layer with domain values, a popup box comes up with text showing which value you are hovering over. If I use the mouse wheel to scroll up and down through the options, these popup boxes remain on the screen, even after shutting down the widget. I have included an image.

Any ideas how to fix this. If not, how can I completely turn the popup boxes off (NOTE: these aren't the info boxes, just the text boxes for domain values).

I don't know why people always want things to just work right... 😄 I don't have time to fix this right now and publish a new version as there is another change I want to get into the code before I push out another version. If you are one that is using the source code the fix is simple to add other wise I will have this fixed in the new version next week.

I will have to do some test environment setup to test the possible join issue. I don't actually use this widget as is the case with most widgets I create. I spend time creating testing and fixing reported bug when I get time but, actually don't use most of them on my site. So I depend on people like you to tell me their unique use of the widgets and issues they find. I will attempt to dig into the possible join issue next week.

I have been able to confirm that there is an issue with sorting fields in the datagrid that have joined data. I don't currently have a resolution. If I figure out a fix it will be in a future release and will be documented that this bug is fixed.

There is a new version of the widget out there now 2.2.6

* Added the ability to disable/enable export option in the data grid on a layer by layer basis.
* Fixed issue with sorting data grid columns when layer has a join
* Fixed issue with tooltips hanging for coded value domain combobox when using mouse wheel.
* Changed packaging of widget so that assets are included in widget folder for
easier moving of widget to new versions of the FlexViewer.

Hi Robert,

Is there a way to highlight point data search results just by coloring the point a different color instead of placing a graphic on top of it? I would like the found points to highlight in a similar fashion to the way the polygons are highlighted in this widget - ie the way they are highlighted in ArcMap when points are selected.

In the code below I have changed the color of my polygon fill & outline. I tried commenting out the picturemarkersymbol line which resulted in my points having the binoculars on them again instead of the .png I directed it to. But is there anything I can change here to get the result I'm looking for?

As new versions are released old versions are no longer supported. I can not attempt to maintain so many versions as the current release is 2.2.6. In the 2.2.6 version in the SearchWidget.xml there is the symbols element setting its alpha to 0 should do it:

Good Morning Robert,

Hope all is well.

I replaced version 2.2.3 with 2.2.7 and run it out of the box, with your xml file and no other changes, just to test prior to using my xml file. When I fire off the widget, I get an Error # 2124. I can click OK and the widget works fine otherwise. When I use my xml file I get the same error including no popup when I put the hand cursor over a selected feature.

Any suggestions?
