Editing the Attribute Inspector skin - And general question on skins.

Hi -

I am slowly working my way through the samples and have functionality implemented to edit attributes on related tables, etc. using the attribute inspector. But now I'd like to change the design of the skin (I think?).

I need to:

1. Display all the fields without using scroll bar (I basically need to increase the size on the content area),
2. Display the fields horizontally across, instead of vertically down, and
3. Reduce the size of the text box for the editable fields so they don't take up so much space.

Please see the attached.

I'm just not sure where to, or how to, set these properties, whether in CSS or creating a whole new skin.

Which leads to the big picutre question: How do you know? How do you know which attributes are even available to change? I've looked at the Styling and skinning navaigation/scale bar examples, but I guess I'm looking for more newbie examples to fully understand. I can see in others examples how they are setting properties via CSS, but how do those folks know what properties are even available to set?!

Thanks in advance. I've learned a lot from these posts and discussions, but need some help on this.

The API Reference is your best reference - see for example http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/apiref/com/esri/ags/components/AttributeInspector.html - at the top right, click "Styles" to see a summary of styles available for AttributeInspector, or "Properties" to see a list of those.

• [Your #1]In this case, the "formMaxHeight" allows you to set the max height of the form in pixels. However, be careful to not change it to be bigger than the vertical application size.
• [Your #3]The "singleToMultilineThreshold" property can be used to say that all fields under a certain max length threshold should be displayed as single line input boxes.

In general, if there is no styles or properties listed for the component, editing the skin is often the way to go. [Your #2]
