Line features disappearing when published to AGOL

Question

Hi,

I have a set of point, line, and polygon features representing water lines and features. When I try and publish them to ArcGIS Online from ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2, three of the four line feature classes do not show up on the map. In fact, if I preview the map service in ArcMap the line features do not show up (the point feature classes and polygon feature class work fine).

I have run check and repair geometry on all of the feature classes, which are stored in a File Geodatabase.

I created a new empty Geodatabase, copied all of the feature classes to it using ArcCatalog, changed the ArcMap document to point to the new Geodatabase source, and published again. The result was the same: the line feature classes do not show up.

Oddly, if I change the data access capabilities from feature access to tiled mapping, the line features appear in the preview. However, I need to publish these as features, not tiles.

Any suggestions?

Are your waterlines secured?  We had some utility info that was secure and found they would not draw if you did not enter your credentials fast enough.  ESRI told us about the bug.

No security beyond the need to login to one of our organizational accounts. The services seem to be working fine since I recreated the MXD and published them again.

Apparently, it was something to do with the MXD. I made .lyr files for the line features that would not display and recreated the map document by making a new MXD, adding the line layers and importing the symbology from the .lyr files. The other layers I simply copied from the old MXD to the new one. Publishing the new MXD to ArcGIS Online works.
