i created new account and registered and working with webappbuilder online ( i can create feature layer, map and application) and i am registering this application also to get appID. but when try to run startup.bat from my local maching its giving error even though i give app ID what i created
here is the error log
would you please help me how can i run from my machine i am using windows environment with firefox

Interesting enough, at the screen after I enter the path to AGOL, where it asks for my username and password, if I enter an incorrect password it knows it. I enter correct password and it just kicks back to "Unable to access ..." screen.
Any Ideas?
Any other ideas? Fiddler capture shows the app access my ArcGIS online account, but it keeps going back to the error message.

Bill Lotz - just for testing, and assuming you have admin rights for that organization, does it work if you (at least temporarily) uncheck the "Allow access to the organization through SSL only." setting on the Organization->Security->Policies setting?
Got the app builder to run to the point where I "Specify the URL to your organization or Portal for ArcGIS" I enter the organizational ArcGIS online account url, then enter user name and password. It then clears the user name and password when I click next. If I hit back it has changed the url. (https to http and added caps) I have attached 2 images showing this.
Then it goes to this.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
In the first screen shot, I enter "https://..... " then when I select "continue" it changes to http.
So when you published your own services, you have basically have 2 options; publish to AGOL/portal to use the Web App builder, or create a stand alone web-map application using ArcGIS for JavaScript API.

A big difference is that you can not add your own hosted services, only web maps from a portal such as AGOL. I took a training class on Javascript API and the instructor said the only way to add your own services with the initial releas,e that should be arriving in a few months, was to build a custom widget which would require programming experience as opposed to simply making configuration changes. Hopefully this policy will change. There is an idea on ideas.arcgis.com with subject Web App Builder that is asking for this direct functionality.

Is this Web AppBuilder the same as the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex? only this time the language is in JavaScript instead of Flex? I'm thinking since the ArcGIS Flex API and Silverlight API is going away and ArcGIS JavaScript API is the main focus now, so it have an AppBuilder / Viewer for JavaScript? If so will it act the same way as the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex, in term of downloading the AppBuilder --> configure it --> modify or develop on top off it if needed? Thanks,

Could you please test Web AppBuilder at port 80 by "node_x86.exe server.js -port=80" or "node_x64.exe server.js -port=80", to see if you can successfully log into your portal? BTW, you need to stop the process that using port 80 first.

Thank you for your reply.
1- I tried both IE11 (11.0.9600.17207) and Chrome Version 36.0.1985.125
2- I tested it on my PC Windows 7 Enterprise - and the app server Windows 2003 Enterprise
3- I did clear the browser's cache, I still the same error
I also ran the node server.js port=3355.
I received the following (also attached PrtScn)

1, Which browser and version you are using
2. on which os
3. clear browser cache and log in again.

Nodejs comes with wab zip file. You don't need to install it. Two options:
1. run startup.bat file as administrator.
2. if option 1 is not working, set node server.js to a different port such as 3355 in command prompt:
enter server directory, run node sever.js -port=3355

The first image 003 is empty to me. From the second image 002, you are using IE. It seems IE 9 to me, please confirm.
If possible, could you try chrome and see if the same issue occurs? FYI, Web AppBuilder beta 2 supports IE9 and up.

After clear browser cache, and specify our organization ArcGIS online URL, and click the continue, I found it re-directed back to the specify the URL to your organization or Portal for ArcGIS page again. Please see the screen shot below:
Hope the information can help you to solve the issue why I cannot use/test ESRI Web appbuilder (arcgis-web-appbuilder-1.0beta2)?

I am getting the same error.
I'm getting an incorrect username or password error despite fact that I am using a valid administrator account for my company's ArcGIS Online site.
Failure/Error on Beta2
1. Launch web app builder from startup.bat
2. Enter my portal URL - get green checkmark
3, Enter username and password
4. Get Incorrect username or password message
I was able to login doing beta 1 testing from within the web app builder application.
I am able to log in if I got to arcgis.com and also with the beta 1 version.
Any ideas ?
You can join to the https://betacommunity.esri.com/home.html and download the beta version , in fact i am developing some widgets with the beta version and it is an amazing product. i really like it, by the way yesterday esri released the BETA 2.
