Dashboard: Trying to add the number of days left until the end of a project

Hi, I read this article: Indicateur—ArcGIS Dashboards | Documentation and I would like to do the difference between a reference Date and a Date value so I can know how many days I have left until the end of a project, but I only have the "value" option when I try to add a field and not the "reference field". How come?
