I have a .diagram model that I'd like to bring into more modern flowchart/diagram software. I'm running 10.2 Diagrammer on an 8yo machine which is literally about to be put into the rubbish skip.
Export options are some raster formats, wmf and possibly XML.
I wasn't able to find any discussion about this online - does anyone know how to reuse this format under other software or current ArcGIS/Pro?
We recommend using Sparx Systems' Enterprise Architect for users interested in geodatabase design with UML as it offers many advantages over the ArcGIS CASE tools functionality. Enterprise Architect uses Geodatabase XML and the XML import\export functionality for the creation of geodatabases based on a UML design. Because of this, many of the limitations that existed with previous UML modeling solutions and CASE tools are not present in Enterprise Architect.
Is there an update to ArcGIS Diagrammer for 10.2? This is a great tool, I hope it continues to follow ArcGIS updates.
I just tried to download Diagrammer from http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=5af1723bab4e413bae63dd89daa87984 but it always failed as server is not responding. Does someone know whether I can find the source in another site?Thank you.
Defining Topology in ArcGIS Diagrammer.I am having trouble establishing Topology rules. I have added a Topology to the diagram and linked it to the Feature Dataset and added some rules. When I run it I get the error:
Getting error Load xml data failed - The topology rule is invalid/malformed.
To try and understand where I am going wrong, I decided to create a XML file from ArcCatalog that includes a topology and review in ArcGIS Diagrammer. While helpful, this did not solve my problem.I eventually noticed that the feature class I wanted topology for has a ControllerMembership property. This was hard-coded to the original name of the Topology created by the XML export. Changing the name of the Topology in the XML file created by export did not result in this property being updated - and the modified XML generated the error above. The ControllerMembership property for Topology holds the Weight, XYRank and ZRank - key components of the Topology. You cannot manually create one - it is an abstract class. So I would expect it to be added as a Topology is added to the DiagramI then tried to define a series of actions within Diagrammer that results in this being populated. I could not. My actions are listed below:Create Feature DatasetCreate FeatureClass and link to Feature DatasetAdd topology to diagrammerLink Topology to Feature DatasetDefined 2 topology rules, picking the feature class created at step 2At this stage the ControllerMembership in the featureclass does not have any reference to the Topology. I think for the model to work, it needs to. But - how ?? Questions:How do you add a Topology to the Diagrammer ? (ie: What actions do you have to perform and how do you define the topology against the featureclass ? )How do you manage Weight, XYRank, ZRank etc ?I have attached 2 XML files. One was exported by Catalog, and the other has had the Topology name changed. The first XML file works, the second does not. Note that the name includes the database owner and schema from my Dev environment - which is not what I really want for my real environment.Environment : ArcGIS 10.0 SP 3. ArcSDE 10.0 SP 3, RDBMS = SQL Server 2008 R2
I'm puzzled as to why, when my ArcGIS Desktop app uses a floating Info license, and even when I have Desktop open, ArcGIS Diagrammer insists on also consuming a Viewer license. Please change the Diagrammer code to use the registry-set choice for the computer on which it's installed. Some people may not care about this, but we definitely do.Windows 7 ProfessionalArcGIS 10 Desktop SP1
I am using ArcGIS Diagrammer and created a file called World Data Model.xml (I am currently working on the example on pages 32-35 of the ESRI ArcGIS Diagrammer User Guide - dated December 10, 2007.)In ArcCatalog, I have performed the following: 1. Created a new file geodatabase. 2. Import the XML Workspace Document file called "World Data Model.xml and import Schema Only. After doing the above steps, I received the following error, "Import XML data failed FDO error:2147186428 [XML parse error: Unrecognized input signature. [Line: 1, Clim:2].]"In Diagrammer, it only gives me the option to save my file as a World Data Model.diagram file, not as a World Data Model. xml file. In order to rename this file as an .xml file, I had to manually name the file as a World Data Model. xml file in order for the file to be imported as an XML Workspace Document.By doing this, I have been unsuccessful due to renaming the file as World Data Model. xml file within Diagrammer program in which it only allows me to save it as a .diagram file only. Please help. Thanks!
I haven't been able to successfully work with a network dataset in the AGS Diagrammer. Every time I attempt to import the XML which I exported from the Diagrammer, I receive an error stating the ??Import XML failed. Unable to instantiate class for xml scheme type: TurnFeatureSources.? Is a network dataset not supported, or is there something that perhaps I am doing wrong?
