When overwriting a web layer from ArcGIS Pro, is it the same as updating the service definition from ArcMAP? Will it change more than the service definition and change the display settings in my Online maps?

Are you trying to update your data or change the symbology of your hosted feature service? When you mention updating the service definition, does this include overwriting the feature service with the changes in the service definition file?

I am wondering if I can the service definition, including overwriting the feature service with the changes in the service definition file without changing the symbology of the online map through ArcGIS Pro. I've been overwriting the service definition through ArcMAP and I'm trying to make the switch to Pro.
