Map Service Legends

Is there any intent on adding map service legends through REST out of the box in 10?

There is a custom REST service written for this purpose in the current code gallery (found here).  However, before heading down that path, it would be nice to know if this functionality is intended to be out of the box at some point.

Legends are not going to be supported through the ArcGIS REST API out of the box. You can either use the code gallery sample or write a Server Object Extension to do it.
