How do I combine multiple feature classes that have the same attribute fields into one master feature class?

Have you tried the Merge tool? Merge—Data Management toolbox | ArcGIS for Desktop

The Append tool will copy all (or selection) features from one feature class to another and as long as the attributes match, all data will transfer as well. If the attributes don't match up you can map them within the Append tool.
