AddIns, VS2015, Windows 10

According to this page: http://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000012659 To write an AddIn in Visual Studio 2015 requires Visual Studio 2013 Shell, which cannot be installed on Windows 10. Currently I'm using ArcObjects/ArcGIS 10.5 and VS2015 on Windows 10, so AddIns will not work. Is there a way to get AddIns to work with this system, or am I stuck using a MapControl in ArcEngine?
